Either to be taken as a souvenir, as a gift for friends and family or simply to have at home, a handicraft is the best expression of what we are: a happy, diverse and creative country.
Our crafts are part of our tradition, a piece of our culture. They are the ancestral heritage of a country in which nature and different cosmogonies are represented in unique handmade pieces that carry our creative DNA.
"Made of creativity’ that is how Colombian handicrafts are known and it is the great bet that this year brings Expoartesanías 2018, a space where the visitor connects with the essence, origin and diversity of our culture.
“Expoartesanías has always been the number one platform for Colombian artisans. It gathers in one place the ancestral, contemporary and modern techniques adapted to the fashion, home, decoration and design. With the work done in ‘Artesanías de Colombia’ through the Laboratories of Design and Innovation that work in the 32 departments of the country and Bogotá, artisan communities from all corners of Colombia are strengthened economically and socially. This year we invite those who visit the fair to see the potential that craftsmanship has on the map of the creative industries. This is one of the main opportunities to buy what is ours, what makes us proud”, Ana María Fríes, CEO of ‘Artesanías de Colombia’, the Government entity that works for the artisan sector in the country.
The name of pavilions are: ‘Innovación y diseño’ (Innovation and design), ‘Cocina de origen’ (Traditional cuisine), ‘Bocados de origen’ (Traditional snacks), ‘Artesanía tradicional y moda’ (Traditional crafts and fashion), ‘Artesanía étnica’ (Ethnic crafts), ‘Diseño Colombia’ (Colombian design), ‘Artesanía contemporánea’ (Contemporary craft), ‘Artesanías del mundo’ (Crafts of the world) and ‘Joyería – bisutería’ (Jewelry), each one brings an experience where the visitor will explore our origins and traditions taken to its highest expression.
"The artisan activity is part of the orange economy that can lead to change in developing nations like ours. Expoartesanías is an important and positive moment for artisan communities because, in addition to reaching the traditional markets where their products are usually commercialized, they find new clients and become a trend and a reference for fashion, home, decoration and design ", concludes the CEO of ‘Artesanías de Colombia’.
A commemorative fair full of our identity, flavor and culture. That is the way the XXVIII edition of Expoartesanías will be, the most important ancestral meeting of Colombia that will take place in Corferias in December 5 to 18, 2018.
